Burgundy
You will find the Domaine Ange Gardien in the South of the Burgundy,
the Saône-et-Loire départment (71). The domain is situated
in the community of Sailly, about 40 kms from Chalon sur Saône,
15 kms from Cluny and 13 kms from Taizé. It is a 5 hour drive
from Calais, 3 hours from Basel or Geneva.
Inspiring
The Southern Burgundy is a region with great spiritual heritage. No
less than 253 Roman churches and chapels can be counted, amongst them
the very famous Abbey of Cluny. Very well-known too, the International
Community of Taizé and the Buddhist temple '1000 Bouddhas'.
Gastronomy
Who has not heard of the very famous vineyards, birthplace of the great
Burgundy wines. Live the life of the people in Burgundy. Follow the
small country roads, the 'Routes des Vins', meet the growers and taste
their wines. Enjoy your lunch in one of the many restaurants, where you
can et a 3 or 4 course meal for about 12 to 15 Euros.
Sports
Wander on one of the 500 special circuits, or cycle on the green paths
(voies vertes) which are only open to cyclists and roller-skaters. You
can play golf on one of the seven courses in the area. Numerous rivers
invite you to go fishing or swimming.
Culture
Be amazed by the beautiful landscapes, visit historic towns like
Chalon, Tournus and Cluny and villages like Mont St. Vincent and la
Vineuse, all with their own typical architecture. Buy some fruit at the
local 'marché'. Discover unexpected treasures at those so very
French 'marchés aux puces', the flea markets..
